Pannonia Bio's plant is Europe's largest biorefinery operating on a single site, and the company is the region's most significant biomethane producer. Although PannoniaBio is one of the most important energy companies and employers at the regional level, they were almost completely unknown nationally: prospective partners and decision-makers lacked sufficient information to preliminarily assess and understand the company's significance. We had to achieve two things: firstly, ensure that PB executives scheduling meetings wouldn't have to introduce the company every time. Secondly, a business process had begun that shifted production increasingly towards high-quality, high-protein feed and food industry products instead of ethanol production.
After thorough research and internal interview rounds, we created Pannonia Bio's communication strategy, positioning, and a three-pillar message system. The core messages address the company's current and future employees, members of the community near the company, partners, and decision-makers. In positioning, we placed emphasis on supporting the local community, bio-refinery product innovation beyond ethanol, and the role of the company's activities in climate protection. We have consistently strengthened the company's position over the past two years through continuous topic management, journalist relationship building, and by having the company's experts speak through traditional media work and events that were just within their comfort zone. In topic management,we have been making proactive communication suggestions weekly for three years on every topic relevant to them and supporting their repositioning - for expert comments, interviews, or even sharing internal communication content. We places pecial emphasis on the relationship with farmers producing the crops needed for production, their perspectives, and needs. Similarly, we seek opportunities to support the development of decision-maker relationships through communication.
In our first full year of cooperation, Pannonia Bio achieved 200 percent more media appearances in the Hungarian media in 2022 compared to 2021. Thanks to the development of our issue-monitoring system, the most significant agricultural media outlets write about the company and proactively inquire about its activities, but major economic and public affairs portals also regularly produce unique publications about the company's activities and seek expert opinions. At the press event organized for Pannonia Bio's 10th anniversary, the Minister of Agriculture gave a speech, and the parliamentary representative of the district and the government commissioner of Tolna County were also present. Based on feedback, PannoniaBio's leaders were greeted with relevant articles about or quoting them at the beginning of meetings in important situations on several occasions - where they no longer needed to introduce themselves.
